A Mother’s womb is the epicenter of a fetus’s journey into to the world; therefore mom’s diet, environment, and state of mind are of utmost significance.

It is a time of extreme joy as well as a time for precaution and common sense and there are common guidelines and precautions we must all pay attention too.

Prenatal supplement

As soon as you find out that you are pregnant, it is vital that you call your health care practitioner to set up an appointment. A prenatal supplement is a vitamin and mineral supplement you can take daily to make sure you’re getting the right amount of certain important nutrients during pregnancy. Proper prenatal care will ensure that you optimize your chances of having a healthy baby.

Diet & Nutrition

Eating well during pregnancy is not only for your own health, but for the baby growing inside. Certain foods will help you through your pregnancy to produce a healthy bouncing baby. Specifically, you’ll need to increase your intake of protein, eating nutritious, well-balanced meals.

 

Food Guide
Whole Grains- Choose whole grains whenever possible
Vegetable- Eat in colorful abundance
Fruit- Great dessert and portable snack
Dairy- Eat a food with calcium at least three times a day
Meat/Legumes- Satisfy your hunger by including protein at each meal
Fat- Choose plant-based fats
Drinks-Sip water all day long to get in at least eight glasses a day

 

 

Exercise

The moment you realize you are pregnant, stop all other forms of exercise until you consult your gynecologist. After all the tests are done and the doctor clears you for exercise, start walking at a slow to moderate pace to be active and keep the pregnancy-related signs of discomfort at bay.

A 30-minute walk every day will keep you fit during your pregnancy, a slow walk, every day, will help you cope better with usual pregnancy problems, morning sickness, aches and pains.

Pregnancy is a time of definite caution something’s must be absolutely shunned such as:

Fish and seafood

Alcohol

Caffeine

Cigarettes

Food additives

Non-Prescribed medicines & herbs
