Coal has been one of the most primitive sources of energy and is still the primary source of energy in many rural areas. There are many advantages of using coal as the fuel, and that is why it has been used for generations. Some of the advantages have been listed below:
- It is one of the most abundant sources of energy, and is available in high quantity and is spread all over the world.
- Coal is one of the most inexpensive forms of energy when compared to other energy sources like fossil fuels.
- Coal is very easily combustible, thus it produces a huge amount of energy after combustion, and is therefore used to generate electricity or run locomotives.
- It is a highly mobile form of energy. Coal can be transported to long distances without secure underground pipes or fear of leaks.
- The energy produced by coal is independent of most external factors of nature, which is contrary to some other energy sources like wind and solar energy.
There is hardly any other energy source that is as versatile as coal, as it can be used for household purposes as well as to generate power for industries.
