Ø Ethanol is used in chemistry as a feedstock for the synthesis of other products.
Ø Ethanol can be used as a source of heat and light.
Ø Ethanol is used as an antiseptic in medical wipes. It acts as an antibacterial hand sanitizer. It kills organisms through protein denaturization. It is also effective against fungi infections.
Ø Ethanol is used as an antipoison agent. This is especially where toxication results from other alcoholic substances. Ethanol acts by competing for the dehydrogenase enzyme, thereby preventing toxication.
Ø Ethanol is used by by artists in designing and sketching their works. It is a good marker in these processes.
