Why to do Fasting


fastingFasting is a period of self-denial from all or specific foods. On these days fluids are consumed in sufficient quantity to satisfy the need for liquids and physiologic necessity.  

The health benefits of fasting are as follows:

  • Burns extra calories: It is said that one pound of human fat is equivalent to 3,500 calories, which is very beneficial for the overweight people, as one pound extra fat is enough to provide the required calories for the full day.
  • Phenomenal benefits: During the first phase of fasting, the body tends to throw out wastes through every pore.
  • Cleanses up the body: If fast crosses the initial stage, which is the toughest; and continues, the cleaning process gets perfect. The body washes out fat, diseased cells, mucus and even toxins, if the fasting process continues.
  • Keeps up emotional and physical health: People feels more energetic after fast and even experience less hunger. During fast days, as the digestive system gets full rest, the energy gets busy in repairing and healing operations.

 During the fast, the body itself washes out everything except vital tissues. A healthy person can survive for long 40 days only on water and will not undergo a deficiency of protein, vitamin, fatty acids and minerals.
